Fall is here and with upon it’s arrival we found ourselves overloaded with changes and blessings. For starters we’re moving off the family farm into our own little piece of land. 2.1 acres of potential farm land that we’re so eager to make our own. It was a move we did not see coming and feel so blessed to have this opportunity. Our Church owns the land and requested that we move in and take care of the property and make it our home. The property is actually where we will be building our new church once our funding comes through. It’s always been affectionately called the Deacons house by our priest and with Kevin’s upcoming ordination to subdeacon they felt it would be a good home for us. In time, God willing, Kevin will be the next Deacon and having him already living there would be more than ideal for all parties involved.

It’s been a blessing to live with our in-laws, brother & sister-in-law on the farm, but I can hardly contain my excitement to have my own house again! I’ve been a busy bee cleaning and organizing for the move. Currently we’re between houses and making many a trip back and forth transporting belongings.

We knew that when we moved in we would need to make some improvements to the house, adding a wall upstairs to create another bedroom, tiling the entryway floor, re-paneling the entryway ceiling, and building a linen cabinet, to name a few. We also hope to put in a new wrap around deck next summer so we can have teachings there in the summer. We we so eager to get started that we were only able to take a few quick pictures before construction was underway.

Our first task was the upstairs. It was always meant to be two rooms but had not been completed. Kevin just got started on adding the wall to divide the rooms. There will soon be a bedroom and a study for Kevin.

Here’s our progress so far!

It’s slow going because Kevin is doing all the work himself, plus working full time, tending the farm and church but we’re getting there! We have hopes to get the drywall completed this week and paint next week! I’ll be back updating you then!
